Single-sided deafness
Also known as unilateral hearing loss, single-sided deafness is complete hearing loss in one ear. Most people with single-sided deafness have trouble locating sound sources. Unilateral hearing loss can occur for a number of reasons. However, there are hearing aid solutions, including Oticon CROS and BiCROS.
Sudden hearing loss
This type of hearing loss is also referred to as sudden sensorineural hearing loss and happens when you experience hearing loss in one or both ears rapidly and with no explanation. This may occur at once or over several days, and should be considered a medical emergency. Sudden hearing loss is usually caused by a medical condition, physical trauma, or use of certain drugs. With proper treatment you may recover some or all of your hearing.
